Omfg there you are. I expected a reply after a month from the way our usual schedule goes. Is there anywhere else I can talk to you on? (I'm leapingtitan on tumblr, but be wary of manga spoilers and dont look at my actual blog lmao)
Uh not really, sorry. I don't have tumblr or anything like that. I have twitter but I use that for different things and I don't really want to give that to you. It's not like it has personal information or anything it's just that I use it mainly for some other online communities that I'm in and I want to keep things separate. If you have twitter you can give me yours if you want and maybe I'll think about it... sorry if this is a dumb answer.
He's alright lmao. Will get his screentime soon enough.
also yeah, the reveal was really anticlimatic ever since i read it in the manga 3 years ago. i was hoping they would change it but after watching this episode i'm so glad they didn't. everything was flawless
Boi I've probably seen it like 200 times by now. The new Vogel im Käfig and Gemie's vocals are one of the main reasons I'm so looking forward to the OST's release. Honestly it was so well executed and so much more impactful than the manga. Also, WE GET THE FIGHT IN A FEW HOURS
CT didn't look that CGI in the trailers for Season 2 though. Anyway, at the end of Episode 31 he didn't fit in at all. Like, he was going at like 120fps while the rest of the 2D enviroment went at standard 24fps (not counting the steam FX). I liked him in last week's episode though. The tracking shots and lighting made it for me.
Not really a filler, but a really bad overadaptation. Mikasa didn't behave this way in the manga and they weren't trying to shove her relationship with eren balls deep into the reader/viewer's face. Dissapointed for the fact that they tried to highlight something not so important when there are greater concerns at hand.
Good episode. I had guessed that "return to our hometown" was more than just a goal; it's what Bertolt says to Reiner when he gets in the wrong personality. Still not sure if they're actually referring to their hometown, or it's a code phrase for something.
I wonder if it would be possible to confuse Reiner and keep him in his soldier personality by talking to him about the good job that he's done and about getting a promotion. My guess is it would be, but I'm also guessing that's not what's going to happen. Ah well.
Lol that's an interesting suggestion. He's already conflicted enough as it is. Honestly, the way his dual personality was portrayed in the manga was amazing but seeing his voice actor actually bring it to life was... yeah. This is some good adaptation.
Also, there is in fact a place or.. a "hometown", I guess where the Warrior Shifters come from, it's not just a code.
So I rewatched some parts of Season 2 and noticed the following things:
Do Reiner and Bertolt not know what happened to Annie? Like that she's in a crystal underground after being defeated by Eren? During the end of Season 1 they weren't present in Stohess District when any of that took place.
Why was Ymir randomly in her Titan form to be in a position to eat Reiner and Bertolt's friend? If she's a shifter she shouldn't be eating humans, right?
Okay so, first of all to give my own impressions. I haven't cried over SnK since the Levi OVA Part 2 which was also around the time a certain future chapter came out. But, I can't believe how much they showed of Ymir's past. Like, we only found out about this stuff VERY recently.. like... around half a year ago.
To answer your questions, the answers are right there. Rewatch the part where she is kicked off the wall. Did you notice the soldiers with the uniforms and mid-transition/commercial break? The place is from outside the walls. And if you paid attention at the beginning, Titans are CONFIRMED to be humans. (AKA Connie's mom and so on). Thogh there is a difference between a Mindless and a Shifter obviously.
1. They don't at this moment.
2. Ymir was a Titan for 60 years as she said to Bertolt.(if you think about it, it DOESN'T work that way for a Shifter as they will exhaust themselves within an hour and need to leave the body, like Eren). She slept in the ground similar to how the Wall Titans are inside the walls. Reiner, Bertolt, Annie and Marcel (the kid who got eaten by Ymir) made a campsite (notice the modern equipment they use), but they were unaware Ymir was underground. Titans are typically more attracted to Shifters (remember how they all went for Eren during the Trost arc) and she ate Marcel. After that, she reverted to human form.
3. It's full of manga spoilers but Araki (WIT director) confirmed himself that it's full of sketches sent by Isayama which show things that aren't even in the manga yet, so I can't answer that though I know what it's about and what's happening. Though, not everything. I can only make assumptions atm but yeah, I know the entire history already.
I highly recommend rewatching the scene where Ymir gets kicked off the wall, in SLOW motion and pay attention to what that guy in the uniform was holding in his hand. Then recall back to Eren's flashback in Episode 9. You should be able to piece things together. Honestly I can't believe how much they showed.. like we currently have 93 chapters (94 coming out in a few days) and Ymir's flashback was first shown in Chapter 89.. like.. around 5 months ago. Meanwhile the manga equivalent to this episode is Chapter 47.
So you gave up huh. Some of my friends are planning to read it when Season 2 ends but damn you're ahead already. How much further did you read? The absolute main chapters you should be wary of are Chapter 62 and Chapter 85.. and everything else onward.
The most recent chapter I read was Kenny the Ripper. Yeah I'm going all the way, not just finishing the current arc in the anime.
But I rewatched the episode. So there are people who live outside the walls? I guess they tried to make it seem like they were being pushed outside Wall Maria? But still, from the information shown about Ymir's hometown, it says it's outside the walls. They straight up just said that. That seems like a major plot twist that probably wasn't supposed to be revealed for much later on, by Chapter 89 like you said (I'm guessing by that chapter they've reached the basement?)
So a couple things from the chapters I've recently read in the manga.
The book that the lady read to Historia seems to have a picture in it that's the same as the first picture from the season 2 ending.
Erwin's father's theory is that the memories of the people in the wall were altered? I'm guessing this is true, and I'm wondering how.
Yep, the basement was already reached in Chapter 89. The thing is we have another source of information which revealed Ymir's backstory that wasn't the basement. Honestly though this happens so much later in the story it's ridiculous. I wouldn't call it a spoiler but they basically spoiled the civilzation outside of the walls (Yes, it exists obviously). Also, make sure to come back when you've read Chapter 62. A lot of things should tie by then though 63 and 64 explain a lot of questions about the Walls. My favorite part of the Uprising arc is probably the finale (Chapter 70) though.
Yep, the Beast Titan's name is Zeke. And like I said, my favorite character indeed. Yep that's the full Marco flashback. We got glimpses of it in last week's episode but it was torn apart as a PTSD-induced flashback of Reiner's. This was the full thing though. Oh so you saw the Colossal Titan nuke. Good lmao.
I read 91-93 so now I'm officially up to date. You theoretically know nothing that I don't also know. So, here are my thoughts/theories:
Zeke didn't tell the Marleyans that he has royal blood. So, is he going to betray them? I don't think so necessarily, but he obviously has some objective that's separate from the main objective of killing everyone on Paradis.
So Galliard is Marcel's brother, and he ate Ymir.
Pieck? Pikko? Peak? Also, CARTMAN? Seriously? Also, staying in her titan form for TWO MONTHS and now she can't walk normally, just, lol
Adult Reiner, the cadets, and the flashback to his old friends. He's really the only one left (well, Annie might still be alive, and I guess the Marleyans aren't sure as to what happened to Bertholt).
Speaking of the cadets. Colt Grice... wasn't there someone named Grice who was thrown off the border wall just before Kruger saved Grisha?
So Colt is going to inherent the Beast Titan and probably Gabi will inherent the Armored Titan, but maybe Falco will. The last 3 chapters have all been about Marley so maybe we'll get some Gabi vs. Falco rivalry to try and become the inheritor of the Armored Titan in the next chapter.
As for inheritance, we know that Galliard probably has about 9 years left, Pieck completely unknown but no more than 9.
ARMIN AS THE COLOSSAL TITAN!!
So Armin and Eren must've destroyed the 32 something boats, or maybe they captured the boats and could theoretically use them to launch an attack on Marley itself. It would be interesting if they did that, it would definitely surprise the Marleyans, but they** doesn't exactly have strength in numbers.
Speaking of the Survey Corps, what do I call the good guys now? It's the whole city/country within the wall, so basically it's everyone on Paradis. I'd call them the Eldians but there are Eldians on the side of Marley. So, the Paradians? IDK
Still don't know who the ninth Titan is but damn, that line about a Flying Titan makes me wonder...
Continuing from #9, there's a panel in Chapter 93 that shows someone watching Reiner and the cadets. You only see the back of the person's head, but from the hair, it's pretty clear in my opinion, that it's Eren. The person is also wearing an Eldian armband, but it's on the wrong arm? So yeah, that's a theory...
Ah, you've caught up! Nice. Good to know I won't have to worry about spoiling you anymore. Chapter 94's leaks/spoilers/raws are supposed to come out today but I'm not looking until someone has translated it. So let's go through it.
1. Yep. That was his... *puts on sunglasses* Zekeret. YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!. Yeah, he seems to have his own objective while displaying loyalty to him. Personally I think it has to with Eren getting back but not giving the Coordinate to Marley.
2. Yep. He's Agito/Jaws/Jaw Titan.
3. I feel bad for her honestly. But it's a pretty deadly ability. Most shifters are at danger of being absorbed into the carcass after a few hours.
4. Yep... tragic. Also Ackerman PTSD.
5. Yeah. It's possible they're related to Grice. I wonder what Eren tells them when they meet if he founds out about their last name..
6. That's the plan. Personally I think Zeke won't let Colt get it. He has enough to do before that. Him killing Colt isn't too unlikely either now that I think about it.
7. Yes and yes. Reiner and Annie have 2 (though her crystallized status is questionable as to how it affects the timer) and Zeke has one.
9. Yeah, I think they just destroyted them and captured some soldiers, maybe to interrogate them. I have no idea to be honest. Hopefully we get that soon.
10. We call them "Walldians". Idk tho
11. I doubt it. Also the General of Marley is literally Mads Mikkelsen lmaoooo
also armin colossal titan is Marley Arc, so we ain't getting it in Season 3
considering Isayama said he planned to extend the story, the Marley arc likely won't be 20 chapters only like Uprising and Shiganshina. Even if it's one cour in the anime it will likely be longer than 12 episodes, obviously.
